Schmitt’s Activities in Asia

Schmitt has been researching, consulting and giving speeches and workshops in Asia for more than 20 years.

He has done consulting projects, written cases and given seminars to Asian companies such as Samsung, Lotte, Amore Pacific, Hanjin, and Yuhan-Kimberly in South Korea; Mary Kay, Jahwa Corporation, Shanghai Venus Software and Shanghai Petrochemical in China, Wheelock in Hong Kong, Tata Industries in India, and Sony, Sunstar, and ADK in Japan (among others).  As a lecturer, Schmitt has taught at HKUST in Hong Kong, CEISB in Shanghai, CEMI in Beijing and held visiting appointments at Yonsei University in Seoul (South Korea), Hong Kong University and Singapore Management University.

He is currently the Executive Director of ACI -- a new Asian consumer institute located in Singapore. He is also a Professor of International Business at Columbia Business School, where he created and leads the Center on Global Brand Leadership.

At ACI in Singapore, Schmitt has initiated various projects focused on Asian markets and Asian consumers.   Those projects focus on Asian strategy, increased consumer spending and the rise of the middle class, and on lifestyle and luxury consumption. As the Executive Director, he also organizes conferences and events, including the Asia Consumer Summit. He is speaking about Asian markets and consumers at conferences and corporate events globally throughout the year.
